STOKE Fleming Bowling Club welcomed Torbay Country Club to Manor Green in Division One of the Mid-Devon Bowling League on Saturday 15.

Having lost all four rinks to Torbay at the start of the season, Stoke knew it was going to be an uphill battle to gain any points.

At tea though, the hosts were leading on all four rinks with a lead of 55 shots to 28. Country Club kept pushing hard and came back, to the point that Stoke only led on one rink by 18 ends.

The ebbing-and-flowing continued and by the end of play, SFBC were ahead on rinks one, two and three, losing the fourth by a single shot.
