KINGSBRIDGE Town welcomed Torquay-based Victoria on Saturday for the first home match of the season.

After an even first half, Town put their foot down and even a late rally from the visitors wasn’t enough to turn the game around, 76-64 the final score.

Keith Baston’s rink was always in charge and this early advantage led to a 23-11 win. Meanwhile, Keith Brayne’s trio raced away to a 24-6 lead but counts of four and five brought the lead down to a slightly less one-sided 11 shots by the close.

In contrast, Eric Fitch’s team were involved in a very tight game and they edged the victory by a single shot. Town’s only losing rink, skipped by Tony Walkers, was always in arrears with a score of 4-11 at the break, 12-24 being how it finished up in that one.

Anyone interested in joining the club will be welcome at the club night, 6pm on Wednesdays at Eastern Backway.
