ON Saturday 25 May, Stoke Fleming Bowling Club were at home to Dawlish Lawn in Division 1 of the Mid Devon Bowling League.

Stoke got off to a good start and after six ends were leading on three of the four rinks, continuing to push ahead, and by tea, leading on all four rinks with a lead of 44 shots to Dawlish's 28.

Dawlish came back on two of the rinks and by 18 ends, were leading on two of the rinks by one shot while the two rinks led by Simon Bennett and Arthur Wotton for Stoke had a commanding lead of 43 shots. After 21 ends Stoke and Dawlish had won on two rinks each the final score being 90 shots for Stoke to 56 for Dawlish. A well-earned 10 points for Stoke!

On Sunday 26 May, four Players from Stoke Fleming Bowling Club had reached the final of Section 6 County Fours Competition, their opposition were a team from Kings Bowling Club.

There was some great bowling by both teams with Kings taking a lead of nine shots to Stoke’s four after 10 ends. Stoke kept pushing hard and with some superb bowling, came back at Kings and with two ends left to play were drawing 12 – 12. The very next end, Stoke played some of the best bowls of the match and picked up six shots to lead 18 – 12 going into the last end. Kings picked up two shots to make the final score 18-14 in favour of Stoke Fleming.
