THURLESTONE Tennis Club were blessed with a lucky dry spell for their end-of-season tournament.

Eight mixed pairs took part and they would change partners every five games depending on the result of the previous match.

In a very close final match, Roger Brownill and Jessie Doyle just edged out Garth Gregory and Judith Lungmuss to win 4-3.

At the presentation, tournament organiser Janet Richardson thanked all those who had contributed throughout the season. Tony Adams and the tennis committee, Eleanor Strang for captaining the mixed team, Sarah Harvey for her extensive coaching programme, Jason for his support of the tennis section, Russell and his groundstaff and the Pro Shop for all their help in a very busy summer.

Kit Marshall was invited to make the presentations and as well as the evening’s tournament some awards were handed out for the Club Championships but there will be more details when all finals have been played.
