THIS week saw Totnes Bowling Club’s first match of the season against tourist opposition from Trenance Bowling Club in Newquay with a full six-rink team.
The friendly-but-competitive match resulted in victory for Totnes with a score of 99 shots to 68. Totnes won on three rinks, drew on one and lost on two. The visitors were impressed with the quality of the playing surface which has been much improved during the closed season.
Afterwards, 48 players and guests relaxed, socialised and discussed the game over a glass or two of suitable refreshment.
This weekend, Totnes launched its annual coaching programme inviting would-be bowlers to come and try bowls any Saturday morning between 10am and noon. This week, on a bright and sunny morning, eight people visited the club to try bowls with all of them enjoying their session with a promise of more practice to come over their free six-week coaching period.
