Ashmoor Men's 2nd XI. 10

IN AN enjoyable game, Ashmoor men's second team had an emphatic 10-1 win at Exeter 2s to maintain their 100% record in Riviera Division 1.

Joint top scorer Dan Cowdry (pictured by Mark Lockett) got the first goal after just five minutes. Charles Walker doubled it on ten minutes before brother Henry made it 3-0 at halftime.

Exeter pulled one back just after the interval, but their reprieve was short-lived as Walker junior added two in two minutes for his hat trick. Walker senior waded in with goal number six, and then it an amazing team display Cowdry added four more in the last 18 minutes to take his tally to 27 for the season.

As a team, the 2nds have scored 120 goals in 17 games and conceded just 15. 14-year-old Walker junior was named as the player of the match for this one.

Next up, the 2nds host Exeter & Culm Vale Hornets with the chance to make it 18 wins from 18, extending the longest run in the club’s entire history. It would also guarantee the Riviera 1 League title, and with it would secure promotion to the South Division.

Isca Men's 6th XI. 0

No one puts Ashmoor in the corner, but Isca did and the mercurial Seb Brown scored from the resulting penalty corner after just six minutes.

The game with Isca was feisty and lively in equal measures but Ashmoor came out victorious with a 2-0 win, Angus Martin notching the second to secure all three points.

Driving midfielder Ben Kay was the player of the match.

This Saturday, the men's 3rd team will be trying to do the double over Torbay 3s and secure another three points, when they travel to sunny Torquay.
