AVON Vale Tennis and Croquet Club is holding its annual Open Weekend on May 11 and 12.

Running from 1pm on each day, there will be opportunities to play both tennis and croquet and teas will be served throughout the afternoons. All are welcome, experienced players and beginners (racquets provided) alike. New tennis members who join on the day will get a £20 discount on the £115 joining fee whereas new croquet members can join for £60 instead of £70.

Membership, currently about 100 tennis and 24 croquet members, is drawn from a wide area. Club sessions are held every Saturday and Sunday afternoon during the season – with tea around 4pm – and Wednesday evenings. The club holds many social tournaments and enters teams in the South Devon League. It has a very good coach who manages more than 40 junior members.
