THANKS to the hard work of the ground staff, Thurlestone Tennis Club’s courts were in good condition despite the recent rain. In the round-robin competition that was held to celebrate the Bank Holiday, many of the matches finished up at three games apiece, meaning it was always going to be a tight finish.

Julie Hanham and Anna Martin finished on 13 games, ahead of two pairs on 12, but they still missed out on the victory. Edging them out were Judith Lungmuss and Sue Ansley who boasted a total of 14 games, in a very impressive manner indeed. The pair are better known as golfers and so it was good to see them prevail in a tennis tournament.

Judith and Sue, the winners of the event, are pictured. Meanwhile, Janet Richardson also deserves a round of applause for her work as the tournament organizer.
