NOW that football’s European Championships have been and gone (sorry for the reminder), and that Wimbledon has been completed for another year, attentions can now turn to the Olympic Games.
Paris is the host city this time around and one of a few local athletes competing is Ivybridge’s Kerenza Bryson.
The University of Plymouth graduate is clearly preparing well for the trip to France as she won gold for Pentathlon GB at the European Senior Championships in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.
A superb outing from Kerenza saw her top the fencing rankings with 29 victories, three more than anyone else and in the final she finished 18 seconds clear of the next best competitor across all of the events.
As well as her individual success, she earned a women’s team silver medal alongside Emma Whitaker and Alex Bousfield.
Next up is the biggest of them all, the Olympics!
