Ivybridge Town general manager Brian Howard has said nothing less than three points will be acceptable ahead of tomorrow's clash with premier division strugglers Bovey Tracey writes Tim Leigh.

Howard delivered the statement after seeing his team bounce back from the shock defeat to Launceston by putting in what he described as a professional performance against division one west side Sticker in the cup last Saturday.

The Bridgers ran out 5-0 winners in their visit to Sticker, and Howard reserved special praise for newcomer Callum Martindale, who started at at left back after joining from Launceston recently.

Howard said: 'It was a really solid performance. They have an outstanding set-up down there, very professional, and that's what I thought we were, we did what we had to do.

The game was never in doubt once we got the first goal and it was nice to get the previous week out of our system. Callum's made a couple of substitute appearances in midfield, but left-back's his position. He's a good foo, he showed some nice touches and he's got a decent left foot.

'We don't have a great record going to Bovey, but we need to be professional again and get the win.'

Ivybridge only scored once in the first half against Sticker, courtesy of a Mark Berry penalty, but left a few goals out there. The second half, however, was all Town, with a brace from Mike Smith being added to by Lee Doel and Luke Brown. The star performer, though, was undoubtedly Martindale.

The reserves, meanwhile, strolled to an impressive 3-1 vicory over Waldon Athletic seconds.
