On February 23 and February 24, over 30 Ivybridge Community College gymnasts competed in the South West Acrobatic prelims competition at Wellspring Leisure Centre, Taunton and brought home 19 medals. 

One trio partnership from the Gymnastics Academy have secured their place at the acrobatic gymnastics national development plan finals, after taking gold medals at the regional prelims. Harriet Worden, Kathryn Baines and Katie Mailling won the grade three title and therefore will represent the South West in the British finals in May. 

The weekend was a successful one, with more medals being won by Chloe Sneap, Georgie Rule and Jennah LeGrice, gaining silver at grade four. 22 partnerships competed on the grade one category. Megan Davidson, Sophie Etherton and Evey Gordon gained second place, Jo Grey, Erin Osborne and Lucy Etherton gained third and Georgie Nicklen, Gemma Hobart and Charlotte Burton gained fourth. In grade three men's pair category Robbie White and Lewis Foot gained a silver medal, just missing out on first place and Jack Short and Cameron Penn came fourth.

Finally, Hannah Williams, Ellie Aldridge and Anna Cantin came seventh in the grade two women's group category.  Another successful weekend of gymnastics for the academy.

On Sunday, February 10, 40 gymnasts performed at the Life Centre for a charity event after the British Gas Diving Championships.

The Spirit of Sport Charity asked Ivybridge gymnasts to perform and entertain the crowds after the diving competition with Tom Daley. The charity raised over £9,500 for great causes such as Meningitis UK, 42 Commando and the Snowdrop Appeal.

Andy Banks, head coach and director of Plymouth City Sports, was impressed by the gymnasts' performances and invited them all to a free diving session at the Life Centre.

Earlier that month, over 45 college gymnasts took part in their first competition of the year.

Five gymnasts secured a place in the South West team and will compete in the British School Finals in May. 

Ellie Bickle and Jennah LeGrice took the under 14 women's pair title and Josh Jackson, Jennah LeGrice and Georgie Rule took the title for the tumbling competition.

Ivybridge gymnasts came home with five gold medals. These gymnasts now form part of the South West team and will compete in the British Schools National Finals in Stoke-on-Trent. 

In addition to these fantastic results, Evey Gordon and Rachel Billinghay and Megan Davidson and Katie Mailling gained third place in under 14 and under 19 women's pair category.

Another medal was won by Robbie White, who came third in the under 14 tumbling competition. What a great start to the new year of competitions.
