THREE cups were on the line at Thurlestone Tennis Club this week and the weather played ball for all players.
Firstly, the July Cup, a junior event for children aged 10-13. With numbers lower than usual this year, a singles competition was held to determine the pairings.
Following the doubles round-robin, William McEwen and Joe Collyer Hamlyn came out top with the most number of wins.
Next to the Lepere Cup which was for ages 14-18 and again, there were lower numbers and not many girls. Charlie Bewes and Rufus Bailey came out on top in the final by six games to three.
Lastly, it was the turn of the adults in the mixed doubles Woodhead Cup.
A record entry of 20 pairs promised for some very high standards and the semi-final matchups saw Charlie and Georgina Witter prove too strong for Julian Hill and Sally Woodhead, as were Nick and Hannah Woodhead against Andy and Linda Willmott.
The final showed mixed doubles at its best and the brother and sister duo of Charlie and Georgina prevailed by four games to two and are pictured with the cup.
