THE 3-2 scoreline was a lot closer than the performance deserved but Beesands Rovers ground out a valuable three points against Chudleigh Athletic on Saturday.

The first goal came on 22 minutes when a Jack Eades corner was flicked on by Josh Clarke and Adam Winkworth planted home a firm header.

Barely two minutes into the second half, a low Eades cross was turned home at the far post by Rhys Morrallee. Chudleigh pulled a goal back but, undeterred, Beesands were a huge threat going forward and the ‘keeper was powerless to prevent the hosts taking a 3-1 lead.

Alex Smith then found Louis Brace and his low cross was cooly finished six yards out by Joe Craig.

Chudleigh, to their credit, threw everything forward and a clever free-kick routine caught the Beesands defence napping as a player stole in at the front post to squeeze home.

Beesands’ matchday sponsor was Orchard Cleaning and Laundry service of Kingsbridge.
