KERENZA Bryson may not have got her hands on a medal but it was an Olympic debut for the Devon athlete all the same.

The modern pentathlete won her semi-final and set a new Olympic record in the process. Unfortunately, a difficult last day meant Bryson ended up ninth overall but speaking to the Team GB media, she highlighted the pride of reaching this stage and pointed out that “There is more to life than sport and medals.”

She also said: “I’m really disappointed in my performance because I came here to try and get a medal.

“With my performances this season and how I was feeling, I thought I was capable of getting one” but sadly it wasn’t to be for the qualified doctor and army officer.

Prior to the trip to Paris, Kerenza won gold at the European Senior Championships in Budapest so it has likely been a year she will never forget regardless.
