WBW South Devon Football League division six Kingsbridge and Kellaton 4, Watcombe 3rds 3
After Tuesday evening's disappointing result to Malborough, when they were beaten 3-1 by their local rivals, playing the top of the table team for the third time in as many weeks wasn't ideal. Kingsbridge and Kellaton started well, putting together some good attacking play that came close on many occasions. Unfortunately, a mistake at the back placed the ball at the feet of the Watcombe forward, who placed it past the oncoming keeper. Wats then quickly scored a second. Back came the Ks after a superb through ball by Chris Thomas, leading to Elliot Bradbury rounding the keeper and scoring the home side's opener from a tight angle. The Ks were playing well and created many more chances, but the Wats keeper had a great game. Two minutes before half-time another mistake by the Ks saw Wats bag their third. This was a real blow, but five minutes into the second-half came some good approach play by Josh Middleton and Jordan Eynon, which gave Bradbury the chance to dispatch it with ease. The Ks were now playing much tighter at the back, marking closer and further up the pitch. Their third goal came after a 60-yard ball by Philip Thomas saw Bradbury once more on the end to score a great equaliser. Playing some simple but affective football enabled the Ks to get that all-important fourth after a Luke Philips corner was met by Elliot Bradbury on the volley, who hammered it home for the winner. The Ks deserved the win, with the whole team putting in a great shift, in particular man of the match Elliot Bradbury, who had a great game.
