Petroc Division 2
Ashmoor Women’s 1st XI. 12
Okehampton 3rd XI. 0
ASHMOOR ladies’ team faced Okehampton 3s this weekend at home and were quick off the mark thanks to Emily Hunter.
Closely following on was top goal scorer Tilly McEwen, finishing nicely from the top of the circle.
Sophie Walker then began her dominant streak scoring two consecutive goals for Ashmoor before Bea Beswick got in on the act and took them to 6-0 ahead at half-time.
Walker wasn’t finished there, adding two more and then Sophie Blee increased the lead to 9-0 at the back post.
Ashmoor continued to demonstrate their strengths with some top-class passing and moving, McEwen the player to take it into double figures and who else but Sophie Walker rounded it off, notching two more to complete a double hat-trick. Walker (pictured by Mark Lockett) earned player of the match for the league leaders as a result.
Next week they visit Ocean City.
England Hockey National League Conference West.
Ashmoor Men's 1st XI. 1
Clifton Robinsons 1st XI. 1
Having given unbeaten league leaders Guildford a good match the previous week, Ashmoor had the tough task of hosting second-placed Clifton Robinsons at their Totnes base.
Ben Andrews, Lewie Jones and Jack Dinnie didn’t play whilst England junior players Theo Bennett and Ben Barnett returned to the fray.
After weathering an early storm, the hosts took the lead courtesy of Jamie Bishop, the captain burying a drag flick from a set piece corner.
Rich Fisher, who was recently called up to the England over-35s team, came the closest to doubling the advantage.
Eventually, the Robinsons team hit back towards the end of the third quarter- Tancock blocked the first two penalty corners, but third time was a charm, equalising from a soft deflection.
Another outstanding stop from Paddy Walton denied the visitors to keep the scores level and Ashmoor were unable to find a winner themselves, leaving the entertaining clash at 1-1.
They now have a break from National League action, before resuming against Fareham on February 23.
Riviera Division 1
Ashmoor Men's 3rd XI. 3
University of Exeter 7th XI. 5
Ashmoor men's third team, fielding a good blend of youth & experience, gave the higher-ranked Exeter University a very good game in a highly entertaining encounter.
Ollie Brown, Leo Thame and Harry Little were the goalscorers for Ashmoor whilst player of the match though went to 13-year-old Harry Easthope, who stepped up from the 4th Team.
This Saturday, they take on Exeter 3rds at St James's School.
Riviera Division 2
Ocean City Men's 3rd XI. 2
Ashmoor 2nd XI. 13
Ashmoor 2s, currently unbeaten, travelled to struggling Ocean City in Plymouth and were dominant from the off.
They may have gone behind but were soon spurred into action and had singles from Henry Walker and Reuben Stanley, a brace from Dan Cowdry, a hat-trick from Dan Green and last but not least, Charles Walker matched his namesake with a double hat-trick.
The score could have been even higher on another day and next up is a home game against North Devon.
Sidmouth & Ottery Men's 4th XI. 4
Ashmoor 4th Development. 1
Ashmoor's Development side gave a really good account of themselves at Ottery in their Riviera Division 2 match, Alex Southgate firing back on his league debut after they fell behind.
An illegal foot prevented a second goal and quickfire strikes in the second half gave the hosts the win. Southgate was named as player of the match.
