Petroc Division 2

Ashmoor Women's 1st XI. 2

Dart Women's 3rd XI. 2

ASHMOOR ladies (photographed by Mark Lockett) played against Dart on Saturday in the local Totnes derby, knowing a point would be enough to secure the league title.

The game started with Ashmoor dominating the play, carving out some well-worked moves through midfielders Emily Hunter and Jordan Wright, forcing the Dart goalkeeper into making some great saves.

Sophie Blee scored at the back-post to open the scoring but Dart rallied to lead 2-1 at the break.

Dart’s keeper continued to make superb saves but with the pressure on and only ten minutes to go, Ashmoor hero and top goalscorer Tilly McEwen managed to convert a goalmouth scramble from a penalty corner, making the score 2-2.

Although the ladies continued to push for a winner, the game remained at 2-2, crowning them as champions and extending their unbeaten record.

Resilient midfielder Emmy Buckman was named as player of the match. Next up is a top-of-the-table clash against Dawlish.

Riviera Division 1

BOTH Ashmoor men’s 2nd and 3rd teams enjoyed wins in the Riviera Division One over the weekend, the 2s beating Torbay 2nd XI 5-1 and the 3s winning 2-1 against Teign 1st XI.

Having secured the league title, the 2nd XI made the short trip to Torquay looking to maintain their 100% winning record.

An early Matt Pearce penalty corner settled any nerves, and he added a second before halftime.

Goals from Josh Medland-Gray, Henry Walker and Charles Walker put the game to bed after the break.

Onto the 3rd team and they smashed a four-year losing run against this Teign side with an amazing performance.

With a 57-year age range on the pitch for Ashmoor, the youngsters showed just how bright the future is.

Harry Little and player of the match Sam James were on target for Ashmoor as they move up to fifth in the table.

Next up for the 2nd and 3rd teams… each other!
