A FEW of the South West Peninsula League Premier East fixtures fell foul of the weather on Saturday, January 25, but Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police went ahead and picked up another three points.

Stoke travelled to Torrington AFC and won 4-2, Saul Vanes scoring twice to send them on their way. Kieran Parkin and Jordan Thomas were also on target for the visitors who now sit third in the table.

Okehampton Argyle were ahead of them previously but with injuries and the departure of key forward Dan Koita, they are battling to stay on track, losing 4-2 at Simmons Park to Bovey Tracey AFC in their latest outing.

In a back-and-forth affair, Jack Brimming netted a brace for Bovey whilst Jamal Bokhommas and Luke Mortimore struck for Argyle, all in the first half. Lewis Perring and Neil Last scored to secure the three points for the Moorlanders, reducing Okey to a fourth defeat of the season and allowing Stoke to move ahead of them on goal difference in the process.

One of the other two SWPL games to go ahead this weekend pitted 1st place against 2nd place, Sidmouth Town against Cullompton Rangers.

Lewis Hill scored the only goal for Cully on home soil who have closed the gap on leaders Sidmouth, three points between them now, although the former have played three more games thus far this season.

Bridport FC won 2-0 away at Middlezoy Rovers in the other game to go ahead, George Calverley and Kieren Daniels scoring the goals.

Meanwhile, Newton Abbot Spurs vs Axminster Town and Teignmouth AFC vs Honiton Town were amongst the games to be postponed.

Coming up next on Saturday, February 1, Stoke will welcome Crediton United to Broadley Lane, whilst Spurs, Bovey and Argyle are all on their travels, visiting Bishops Lydeard, Sidmouth and Bridport.
