THE standings in the South West Peninsula League Premier East rang true when Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police 1st XI visited Axminster Town.

Tiger Way was the venue for Stoke’s latest league outing and they earned an eighth win of the campaign, beating a struggling Axminster Town side 3-0.

Josh Haynes netted twice for the away team with Saul Vanes also finding the back of the net on Saturday, November 9.

Stoke Gabriel are in sixth on 26 points after this victory, boasting a very respectable record of 8-2-4. Axminster meanwhile, have won just three of their 13 games to date and are languishing down in 15th following early-season issues that included a managerial departure and struggles to raise a side.

It doesn’t get any easier for Town as they go on the road to face Okehampton Argyle, a team with title ambitions. For Stoke, they welcome Middlezoy Rovers on the 16th for another very winnable game.
