A NUMBER of fixtures in the Devon Football League were postponed due to the weather on Saturday, February 22, but this doesn’t apply to Dartmouth AFC.

Dartmouth’s trip to Beer Albion went ahead and whilst there were able to end their losing streak, the winless streak goes on thanks to this draw.

The pair went toe-to-toe at Longcross the week prior and Beer Albion came out on top thanks to a strike from Aaron Daniels, yet the high-flying pair couldn’t be separated this time around.

It didn’t take long at all for the second-placed Beer Albion side to take the lead, Daniels again their goalscorer, but Stuart Bowker was on hand to convert an equaliser with just 16 minutes on the clock.

Both sides had chances to score the third goal of the game but to no avail and so they both had to settle for a point. As a result, Beer Albion are behind only Alphington in the standings but have played four more games than the latter and Dartmouth are in sixth, tied on 37 points with the pair ahead of them, Plymouth Marjon and Ottery St Mary.

Dartmouth remain marginally behind Marjon with the Plymouth side drawing 0-0 away at Elmore whilst Ottery jumped in between them thanks to a 1-0 win at Appledore, Sebastien Copp scoring the only goal of the game.

Elsewhere in the DFL, University of Exeter were only able to find a single goal against rock-bottom Ipplepen Athletic and Newtown and Topsham Town played out an eight-goal thriller. The pair were tied at 2-2 at half-time but Topsham scored three times after the break to take home all three points.

Looking ahead now and Dartmouth are scheduled to visit Thorverton on Saturday, March 1, a side four places and eight points behind them with two games in hand.
