BEESANDS Rovers secured a first win of the season in the South Devon Football League Premier on Saturday, October 12.

Alex Smith scored a brace and he was joined on the scoresheet by Louis Brace as the South Hams-based side took their points tally to three for the campaign.

3-2 was the result in their clash with Elburton Villa and the latter are now at the foot of the table, Beesands jumping above them with one win in five.

A standout fixture for Foxhole doesn’t make for as positive reading for the area though with Totnes & Dartington falling to Newton Abbot 66.

Thomas Barrett and Joe Clark-Farley struck for a very impressive 66 side, extending their stay at the top of the tree whilst T&D lose for the second time in 2024/25, and occupy fourth as a result.

They are three points ahead of East Allington United who did not play this weekend and the club won’t be in action on the 19th either. T&D have the reverse fixture against 66 to come with a quickly arriving chance of revenge and Beesands will visit Paignton Saints.

Division One outfit Ivybridge Town 2nd XI were in MJ Evans Accountants Devon Senior Cup and they had six different goal scorers in their romp past Merton FC.

Sonny Cooper, Brandon Jefferis and Joe Truelove were the trio of starters that struck and then Lewis Clarke, Bailey Hensman and Owen Howard made quick impacts from the bench.

Division Two duo Harbertonford 1st XI and East Allington United 2nd XI have both been eliminated from that same cup competition, losing 2-0 to Exmouth Spartans and 4-1 to Brixham Town respectively.

Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police 2nd XI, of Division Three, won 4-0 away at Paignton Saints 3rd XI in the A& S Paving Intermediate Cup, Adam Blackburn starring with a hat-trick.

It is the end of the road for T&D 2nd XI who lost 4-1 away at Exeter Royals and for Broadhempston United 1st, who were swept side 12-1 by Liverton United 2nd XI. Troy Riley scored four for them plus there were doubles for Shane Essam, Aaron Underhill and Oliver West.

Harvey Kendall and Tom Roddy came off of the bench to compound the Broadhempston misery whilst it was Ben Walton who scored their single goal on the day.

The rematch between Totnes & Dartington and Newton 66 in the Premier Division has to be one of the fixtures to keep an eye on with another being Harbertonford hosting Barton Athletic in Division Two. A win for the South Hams team will reduce the gap to three points with a game in hand.
