DCL F Division West
Plymouth third XI 142-3;
Kingsbridge second XI did not bat. Match abandoned.
Kingsbridge (seven points),
Plymouth nine points)
Kingsbridge second XI hosted second-placed Plymouth on Saturday, and with rain clouds looming Kings won the toss and asked Plymouth to bat.
Mark Edmonds opened the bowling and bowled really well without taking a wicket.
Matt Hammett was replaced by Clive Clark to try and take quick wickets which worked well, with Clark dismissing the opening batsman bowled for nine. He soon got the number three batsman caught and bowled a few overs later.
Ben Grose replaced Edmonds. He didn’t bowl that badly considering he was bowling into the strong wind, picking up the wicket of James Rothwell for 36.
With the score at 66-3 the team left the field of play due to a passing shower. When they came back on, Plymouth looked to score quickly as they needed to put loads of runs on the board to make sure they didn’t leave Kings a low target to chase in a shortened-overs game.
They ended up getting to 142-3 before the heavens opened for the second time, flooding the square and outfield, meaning the game in the end was abandoned, Kings picking up seven points and Plymouth getting nine. Kings are still top with a lead over Plymouth of 35 points and a massive 61 points ahead of Bovey Tracey. Kings are home again this Saturday to Yelverton in a 1.30pm start, with the club hoping the sun is shining.
