Kingsbridge Park Bowls Club
ON Sunday, June 23, the Park visited Saltash for a mixed friendly, getting a very good result overall.
Rink one with Richard Kerswell always trailed to lose by 16 shots to 22.
Rink two with Gerald Lonsdale, Edward Morgan, Steve Russell and skip Pat Janes picked up some good scores over the closing ends to win 18 shots to 16.
Rink three with Val Harding, John Hall, Ron Edmonds and skip George Brown led throughout to triumph by 18 shots to 13.
Rink four with Barbara Elson, Dick Bond, val Statters and skip John Peckham trailed from the off to lose 11 shots to 24.
Rink five of Jean Morris, Pat Bond, John Yeabsley and skip John Harding controlled throughout for a resounding win by 28 shots to seven.
Overall a good win for the Park by 91 shots to 82.
On Monday, June 24, the Park visited old rivals Kingsbridge Town in the SHTL - Rink A with Don Havis, Chris Adams and skip Ron Welham won by 17 shots to 15.
Rink B with Trevor Edwards, Dick Bond and skip John Peckham had a slightly closer encounter but prevailed by 16 shots to 15.
The Park thus picked up all six league points. The ladies had a mixed week, playing Paignton Torbay in the Grace Mathews Top Club Competition on June 28. In the two wood singles Val Statters lost eight shots to 19.
In the four wood singles Diane Smith had a resounding win by 21 shots to 13. In the pairs Barbara Elson and Jean Morris went down by eight shots to 25.
The triples of Val Harding, Margaret Cullum and skip Tina Thomas had a very fine win by 36 shots to six.
The rink of Viv Rogers, val Richards, Pat Janes and skip Pat Ramsay lost 13 shots to 22. The Park are thus eliminated from this competition.
On June 29, the ladies met Marldon in the Gallery League - rink one with Val Harding, Val Statters and skip Margaret Cullum lost 10 shots to 20.
Rink two comprising Pat Bond, Pat Janes and skip Pat Ramsay lost 14 shots to 19.
Rink three with Barbara Elson, Viv Rogers and skip Jean Morris won by 16 shots to 11. This gave the Park just two league points.
The men visited Paignton Torbay on June 18 in the Top Club competition. The home side proved far too strong, winning four of the five disciplines played.
The highlight of the week was the open triples tournament, generously sponsored this year by the Kings Arms Hotel, Kingsbridge.
Sixteen teams were involved, each playing three matches of 70 minutes each.
The day was blessed with fine weather with some top quality bowling being displayed.
The eventual winners were a trio from Torbay Country Club, second place went to Dartmouth and third to another trio from Torbay Country Club.
