TOTNES Ladies crossed paths with Babbacombe Ladies in the 4 3 2 1 Bowls Challenge Cup Competition, which involves different rinks playing singles, pairs, triples and fours.

It was a close-fought match with Totnes winning by 74 shots to Babbacombe's 65, the last end of the Rinks game not being played as Babbacombe could not make up the 9 points deficit. The ladies are awaiting the details of their opponents for the next round of the competition.

In the over 55’s league, Totnes were at home against Paignton Bowling Club and managed a good win taking both rinks with a total of 39 shots to 27 shots, resulting in taking all eight points for the league to Paignton’s zero points.

In another Over 55’s match Totnes were also at home to Kings Bowling Club from Torquay and the result went the way of Totnes once again. Totnes are maintaining their mid-league position in this league.

The Totnes Ladies’ league team also had a very good result in their away match against Brixham St. Marys, winning two of the three rinks and then drawing on the third. This result gave Totnes nine points for the league and one point for Brixham. The Totnes Ladies team had another match, this time against Paignton Ladies, but were unfortunately unable to reach the same heights, walking away with two points to the eight of Paignton.

In the Men’s Mid Devon league 2, the Totnes Men’s ‘A’ team were against Chudleigh in a hard fought away match. This resulted in wins for two of the four rinks alongside a draw and a loss.

Despite winning more rinks, the overall score went the way of Chudleigh who won 89-64. For the league points this gave Totnes five points and Chudleigh nine points. The current position puts Totnes at mid-table with 30 points after five games completed.

Finally, the men’s team were in action in the Foxlands Trophy, a competition which sees one rink being played at home and one away, both taking place on the same day and at the same time.

Totnes won in the first two rounds in this battle for the trophy but this semi-final matchup with Kings Bowling Club proved to be the end of the road.

After getting off to a good start, Totnes lost both rinks and so the Torquay-based side have earned their place in the final and now await their opponents.

It was a great effort to get to that stage regardless and so the men represented the club very well indeed.
