The Prana Project is run by me, Margaret Larkin, and I welcome you to embark on your own yoga journey.

About me

Margaret Larkin of The Prana Project. (The Prana Project )

I have been a part of the yoga community for many years but I never really considered pursuing this part of my life as ‘work’ until after the Covid-19 pandemic.

I started my teaching training journey while working in nursery schools post-Covid. Teaching meditation and yoga with the children was so inspiring for me for a few reasons. I could see firsthand the positive impact just twenty minutes a day of yoga practice was having on local family’s lives.

This practice I was teaching was not just concerned with the internal and personal, but it directly benefited my community.

So I completed my teaching training course, decided to take a risk in moving away from my home in Manchester and here I am in Devon. It’s the biggest risk I’ve taken since leaving home for higher education. University for me ended badly, I dropped out because I had become unwell. I was hospitalised for mental health complications - it’s not something I’d like to go into detail about, but I do think it’s integral to the reason I created The Prana Project to begin with.

I think sometimes we shy away from the gritty details of who we are but my work here is my way of sharing this hope that I have, that maybe we don’t have to limit ourselves by listening to our inner saboteur.

I guess the bottom line of why I teach Yoga and Meditation is that I want to pursue work that helps be that voice for people. It’s just so inspiring meeting individuals who are on that journey.

About classes

prana project
Yoga is about creating a welcoming environment. (The Prana Project )

My style of teaching is (I think) very accessible. Yoga doesn’t need to be handstands or wild back bends and creating a welcome environment, where all bodies and ages can find a moment of shared stillness is the mark of a meaningful practice. When we care for ourselves, for our bodies and our minds, then everybody benefits.

I’m currently running classes in Tavistock (on West Street), Yelverton, and Milton Abbot. In Milton Abbott, the MP has condemned the building and won’t help fund the upkeep further, so the local community are having to fund it themselves. I wanted to get involved here because these third spaces are so vital for our sense of community and unity! (Yoga is Sanskrit for ‘to unite’). I think that’s the purpose of what I do, meeting new people and finding a centred connection on the mat, enjoying the comfort of acceptance together.

Having practiced yoga for over 25 years with many teachers and different theories, I highly recommend Margaret's yoga teaching. A shared practice, centred on flexibility and mobility in a welcoming space... what's not to love!
