Young adults in Ivybridge have completed a wheelchair skills course provided by charity Whizz Kidz.
Nine young adults at Hannahs in Ivybridge have completed a wheelchair skills course which has earnt them an introductory level certificate in powered wheelchair proficiency.
The sessions were run jointly by charity Whizz Kidz and the Occupational Therapy team at Hannahs over a ten week period and were focused on developing core driving skills necessary for independent wheelchair driving.
Hannah’s Occupational Therapist, Nellie Dadge said: “We are very grateful to Whizz Kidz and to Adam for getting us started in running these inspiring sessions.”
He continued: “It’s great to support our young people in developing their independence and it is clear to see that the sessions have already made a great impact on our young adults.”
Whizz Kidz is a charity working hard to transform the lives of disabled children and young adults across the UK, supporting them to become confidence and independent young adults.
