A village now has a set of 5-a-side football goalposts thanks to a proactive member of the community.
Mike White has two daughters and used to come up to the playing fields to have a kick about, usually using jumpers as goalposts.
“There is this space at the end of the playing fields”, Mike explained, “and I thought it would be nice to have some actual goals here for the kids. I asked them to get sponsorships from their parents, 10p a goal and things like that, eventually we had enough to buy a pair of goals.
“Its fantastic to see the field used more.”
To celebrate the new goals arriving, a mass game was undertaken with Mike as referee and later with kids vs the adults.
Mike now organises very casual get togethers and kick-abouts at the playing fields, usually very weather dependent. The best way to find out if a game is on is to check the Loddiswell What’s On Facebook page.
