A steam train ran in Kingsbridge on Sunday, for the first time in forty years.
Kingsbridge and District Light Railway, who run the ‘Little Train’ along the Quay, were offered the chance to use the steam powered engine on Sunday through a message on Facebook.
Steve Mammatt, owner, said that the owner of the engine, who had been at steam event in Launceston, Cornwall, and had relatives in Buckfastleigh, contacted him through Facebook to ask if he would like to host it in Kingsbridge for a few hours on their way home.
Steve added that he “hopes to get many more visitors during the year” and was planning a Beer and Steam weekend for October time, although he may throw some gin in there too!
You can find out when the train is running, and all that is happening with the Little Train on their social media pages: Kingsbridge & District Light Railway Co on Facebook and @kdlr_co on Twitter.
