This is an open letter to the driver who, at sometime on Good Friday morning while driving down Topsham Bridge Lane, near Hendham, hit a deer.

It was dragged by the car for some 40 yards down the lane and then left abandoned, alive in the road with two broken back legs.

Who knows how long the animal lay there suffering before it was found and put out of its misery?

To the person who did this, I say shame on you
