Saltstone Caring and guests enjoyed a second successful garden party this year, following on from a previous garden party hit held at South Pool during June.
Bill and Sylvia Grahamslaw threw a tremendously hospitable occasion in their beautiful Sherford garden. The event was very well supported. Guests, which included local MP Dr Sarah Wollaston, wandered the grounds whilst enjoying pasties, cream teas and liquid refreshment in very good measure.
Bill Grahamslaw, a newly appointed trustee, said: “It was our pleasure to be able to share with others the joy of our garden, for which, I must be honest, my wife Sylvia should take the credit.
“Saltstone Caring provides a free befriending service which has been a lifeline for many over the past 10 years. This local charity is a most deserving cause and everything given goes towards ensuring that its services can grow and yet remain sustainable during these difficult times.
“I must make special note of the huge support received from Duncombe Masonic Lodge of Kingsbridge, whom have already given generously to the charity this year.”
Dr Sarah Wollaston added: “Thank you to everyone who put so much work into ensure the success of the day. I have been a supporter of Saltstone Caring for several years and know how effectively this charity bridges the gap and adds so much to standard personal care provision.
“It is great news that they are working to expand their services to support people who are living with dementia as well as their families.”
Guests at the garden party were served by relatives and personal friends of the Grahamslaw family, to which all concerned send their “grateful thanks”. £1,715 was raised on the day.
