I would like to say thank you to Patrick Robinson and Kingsbridge RFC for their ­hospitality at the weekend.

They restored my faith in rugby clubs, which had taken a bit of a battering of late.

When our coach broke down en route at noon, after setting off at 9am from Bath following two other cancellations due to the weather, I thought, ‘that’s it, the fixture’s doomed’.

Getting a minibus together and sending out cars to pick us up when we were 40 minutes away was a great gesture, ­especially as Kingsbridge RFC could so easily have just claimed the fixture and ­progressed to the next round.

It reflects well on Patrick, the club and the town of Kingsbridge.

All the best in the next round, and I hope our paths cross again.
