Two fundraising events raised a collective £700 and will go towards improvements to an outside play area for preschool students.
The first, a ‘successful and joyous’ Easter Fair was held on Sunday, March 25 at Chillington Village Hall, with proceeds going towards promoting and the upkeep of Merry Go Round Preschool in Stokenham, which was recently recognised and awarded by OFsted in December. The event was put on by staff, committee and parents of the school.
At the fair, children and parents alike enjoyed an afternoon of activities, such as an Easter Hunt quiz, ‘Splat the Rat’, an Easter Bonnet competition, a treasure hunt, and an Easter Bunny meet ‘n greet.
The day was supported by the Art Cafe, Kingsbridge, who provided craft supplies such as egg cups for decorating. The cafe also provided refreshments for the staff, parents and children who attended.
The manager of Merry Go Round, Alison Pope said: “A wonderful day was had by everyone. It was lovely to meet some new faces in the area - it was a real sense of community spirit!”
The second fundraiser happened later that week, where The Bear and Blacksmith in Chillington hosted an Easter Pub Quiz, which was “great fun and a huge success”.
The staff, parents and students at Merry Go Round Preschool would like to thank all who participated, supported and donated to the fundraisers, as well as show their gratitude for the continuous help and support from the community to the school.
