Kingsbridge Poppy Appeal collectors have raised a total of £16,724.38 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2016.
The Kingsbridge and District Branch distributed over 100 Poppy Appeal collection boxes within it’s area which extends from Slapton and East Allington in the east, East Prawle in the south, Loddiswell in the north and Hope Cove and Thurlestone in the west.
Poppy Appeal Organiser, Colin Davies, said: “There are currently 17 house to house and street collectors and a small army of volunteers who manned collection points at our Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets.
“A special mention must be made of our primary schools at Kingsbridge, Loddiswell, Thurlestone and Stokenham who raised over £500 between them.
“Monies raised during Poppy Appeal contribute greatly to the Legions ability to plan, develop and implement our services as effectively as possible for the whole Armed Forces family, whether serving, veteran or their families and loved ones.”
The Kingsbridge and District branch of the Royal British Legion are always seeking volunteer house to house collectors. If you are able to give a few hours during the Poppy Appeal fortnight leading up to Remembrance Sunday, then please contact the Poppy Appeal Organiser, Colin Davies on 01548 852706.
