A man in his 80s has died after the car he was driving fell in the River Dart in Dartmouth.

The incident happened on Sunday morning, November 10, at about 8:40am on the south embankment.

The area was cordoned off as police, fire and ambulance crews as well as divers and the RNLI, reportedly attended the scene.

Part of the Remembrance Sunday parade in the town was re-routed as the rescue response was underway.

The victim, who has not been named at the time of the report, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Police said a report had been passed to the coroner and that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
