An outdoor education business has won an award at the Rural Business Awards.
Having been shortlisted in the Best Outdoor Recreation or Outdoor Pursuits category FaB was announced regional winner at the South West awards ceremony held at Bath Spa Racecourse.
Director Pete Moore said: “It was lovely to be nominated but to actually win is just fantastic! We were not expecting it as we were in a category with four other great rural businesses from all over the South West.”
Andrea Moore, director, added: “It was a lovely surprise and great timing as we are five-years-old this October. Everyone has been so kind in their congratulations and well wishing, it just shows what a fantastic community we live and work in.”
Judges comments included “Forest and Beach present a strategy that combines community engagement and commercial activities rooted in their locale” and “A fast growing business offering a wide range of activities and education to a wide audience. Strong interaction with local communities including schools and farms.”
Forest and Beach now goes through to the National Finals Awards which take place in February 2019.
“We love the fact that we are representing the beautiful South Hams, showcasing the recreation and exploration opportunities it offers to young and old on a national stage.” Pete said.
Forest and Beach was set up in 2013 by Andrea and Pete Moore, both Devon-based primary school teachers. Its principle aim is to inspire both children and adults to spend time outdoors enjoying and experiencing their natural surroundings.
Based in Beeson, the company has grown rapidly and as well as school camps the company offers school holiday activities for local and visiting children, Forest School in schools, Beach School, business days out, children’s parties, outdoor consultancy and venue hire.
They also link up with other local businesses to create bespoke days and experiences for their clients.
