A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a young footballer who died after an alleged glassing attack at a taxi rank.

Lee Dent, aged 42, of Cross Lane, East Portlemouth, near Kingsbridge, denied murdering 17-year-old Alex Peguero Sosa in Kingsbridge on Sunday, July 6, when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, who extended custody time limits and moved the trial to Plymouth Crown Court.

The case has been listed to be heard over two weeks by a High Court judge on March 9, 2015.

Plymouth Argyle youth player Alex Paguero Sosa died after an alleged attack at a taxi rank outside a night club near Kingsbridge Quay in the early hours of the morning.

Judge Gilbert gave directions about the exchange of prosecution and defence papers and evidence including CCTV footage.

There was no bail application and Dent was remanded in custody. By law, any detention before trial of more than six months must be approved by a Judge.

Judge Gilbert was told the custody time limit would have expired on January 6, 2015. He extended it to March 16, 2015.
