Kingsbridge Fair Week has a new president, and she is the third person from the same family to fill the role.
Julia Wingate, sister of Keith Wingate and granddaughter of Henry Morris Wingate, two former presidents, took over from Adrian Masters this month.
Julia said: “I am delighted and honoured to be asked to be president. When I received the chain of office with all the names on, I was reminded of all the people who filled this role, including my grandfather and brother.
“Our family are always involved in the carnival and we will be entering again this year. I hope it is a great week for all the families in Kingsbridge and the surrounding areas.
“I feel privileged to have taken over from Adrian and I hope to fulfil the role as well as he did over the last year.
“The whole Fair Week committee are working very hard behind the scenes to make sure we have a great year and we hope everyone comes down and takes part, because Kingsbridge Fair Week is always at its best when everyone joins in.”
There is a fundraising quiz night tonight, April 30, at the Creeks End Inn, in aid of Fair Week and we will keep you updated in the run up to the most fun week of the year.
