On Saturday, January 6, the Daily Telegraph carried a generous two-page feature article highlighting the delights of Totnes, eloquently described as “a town of pedigree and poise”.
No mention was made of the district council’s decision to padlock the town’s filthy public toilets to the inconvenince of all. Perhaps in future the town’s selling point should be “Come of Totnes for authentic Elizabethan squalor and personal discomfort”.
This problem should be recified without delay. Public toilets are not merely a convenience, they are essential.
Let’s hope the Daily Telegraph does not get wind of our current predicament.
