Kingsbridge Town Council are launching their Kingsbridge Community Champions nominations for 2019.
Martin Johnson, clerk to KTC, said: “Life throws challenges at us from all directions and it’s easy to keep your head down and focus on the ground in front of you – but we need you to look up and help us find this year’s amazing residents who care about where they live, work and play.
“Those people who work tirelessly– and often quietly – in their community, whose initiatives or fund raising activities or just sheer toil have made a real and positive difference to Kingsbridge.”
Kingsbridge Town Council launched the Kingsbridge Community Champions awards in 2017 to encourage wider community participation and it’s time to do so again.
There are six different categories: Arts and Culture, Business, Environment, Sport, Volunteer and Young Champions, and it’s all about recognising and celebrating the fabulous contributions that local people make. Last year’s community champions were Chris Barnwell, Gerrie Messer, Graham Smith, Julia Wingate and Lizzie Wyatt.
The Town Council was delighted to acknowledge their achievements.
Your nomination may be for a shopkeeper, a sporty person, a group, a volunteer, a young person etc. etc. The Town Council does not wish to be too prescriptive and the whole concept is for the Kingsbridge community to effectively elect their own Champions with as few rules and conditions involved as possible.
How do you go about it? It’s simple, just complete a simple nomination form which can be downloaded from www.kingsbridge.gov.uk, pick one up from the Council Offices at Quay House, email [email protected] or call 01548 853296.
Nomination forms will also be available from the Library, Kingsbridge Information Centre and a few shops. It will only take you a few minutes to complete your nomination for your Community Champion – let’s give local people the credit they deserve.
Deadline for applications is Friday, March 29, 2019.
