Despite the result, I have just spent a most enjoyable few months campaigning in the South Brent and Yealmpton county council division.
I have knocked on the best part of 1,000 doors and met many hundreds of the residents of our wonderful area and can honestly say it has been a pleasure.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me and also all the lovely people I have met along the way. It would have been amazing to have the opportunity to assist with all the issues you raised, but a new Conservative councillor has been elected, and I would urge all those people who raised issues with me to raise them with your new councillor.
Let’s make sure that the unacceptable condition of the A379 at Brixton is rectified; that a crossing is installed from the new estate in Yealmpton across the A379 to the school, so that families no longer have to take their lives in their hands to cross; in South Brent, let’s do something about the condition of the pavements and the weeds; and most importantly, let’s have a decent plan to deal with the provision of special educational needs in the county so that there is no need to take money from our schools again next year.
And if you don’t get the response you want, let me know, because I’m not going anywhere.
