An angler from Ivybridge has landed a huge rainbow trout at a South Hams fishing lake.
Ashley Whitfield from Cole Lane caught the eight pound four ounce monster at Newhouse Fishery, Moreleigh last Friday.
Ashley caught the trout in the main lake using a type of nymph fly called a ’Diawl bach’ - Welsh for little devil.
Although ’a brilliant specimen’ according to the fishery’s owners, the fish was not a record. The biggest caught so far this year weighed in at twelve pounds.
