Friends of Yealmpton Village School are holding their Summer Fair with a tribute to their late chairman Kerry.
The event, which will take place on Saturday, June 17, at Yealmpton Primary School, will have vintage high tea, live music, raffles, stalls, a barbecue, bouncy castle, children’s games, pony rides, a tuck shop and the scarecrow competition.
Sam Pillar, treasurer of the Friends of Yealmpton Village School, said: “We sadly lost our chairman at the start of December. Kerry was an inspiration to us all and in her honour this year we are hoping that our annual Scarecrow Competition will be bigger and better than ever before.
“We are encouraging people to fill Yealmpton and neighbouring villages with their scarecrow creations in memory of Kerry. It’s £2 to enter, with a £50 first prize for the winner.
“Scarecrows are to be proudly displayed in gardens from Monday, June 12, at the very latest and then brought to the fair on Saturday, June 17, for judging. The winner will be announced at the fair.”
Scarecrow entry forms can be collected from the Post Office, Yealmpton Stores, the school reception, or by emailing: [email protected]
