I was encouraged to read letters from William Garman, Val Gibbons and Martin McGowan-Scanlon on the subject of Brexit and also to learn of the regeneration of the Leave Means Leave group.
Mr Garman is right that the un-elected in European Commission and our own Remainers, who brazenly ignore the principle of democracy, are following the well trodden path which they hope will lead to a second referendum in order to achieve what they perceive to be the ‘right’ outcome.
However, the scenario he outlines assumes sufficient of those who voted leave will succumb to project fear and, in a fog of negativity, lose sight of the opportunities that will benefit this country for which they voted.
This certainly need not be the case and I do not believe will be the case – and in this I am supported by the polls.
‘Project Fear’ has been discredited repeatedly, there is much more awareness of media bias and a greater acceptance that no deal is both a viable option and much better than a bad deal. It is not in our nature to succumb to bullying by the EU or those in the Westminster bubble who have lost the confidence and respect of those they were elected to represent. All is far from lost – quite the reverse.
