Year 6 leavers from an Ivybridge primary school got their stage careers off to a roaring start with their end-of-year production of The Lion King.

Year on year Stowford School’s Year 6 children astound parents, family and friends with their polished performances, and this year was no exception, school staff said.

Pupils had access to the script from the West End show, kindly funded by the Friends of Stowford School. With beautiful costumes, elegant dancers and singing the children brought the musical to life.

Friends and family filled the school hall, and there was not a dry eye in the house. Pupils decorated their own costumes to represent the animals of the African plains, with fantastic headdresses worn by the main characters.

The technical team had to produce the props and scenery as well as mastering the lighting rig, and thanks go out to all the staff, parents and helpers involved to get the show on the road.

Mr Bradley, the show’s producer said: “I am so proud of the way the children have been so focused and disciplined in their approach to the show. It has been a pleasure to work with them."
