The Care Company provided local pensioners with a fish supper and some much-needed company.
As a company, they have strived to create opportunities for their clients to feel part of the community and regularly anticipate their next event.
Previous events have included coffee mornings, afternoon teas, and a present for a pensioner at Christmas. Their latest launch, The Care Company does Fish ‘n’ Chips, targets loneliness in the community.
Managing director, Sarah Sabater Romero, said: “Only too often do we witness how loneliness can impact upon mental health and how social inclusion can help so effectively to combat this.”
Clients were sent a menu in advance and asked whether they would prefer lunch or supper. In an attempt to combat loneliness, those who lived alone could sit down to eat with a staff member.
David Lilburn, manager of award-winning Kingsbridge eatery, The Cod Father, is happy to support people in the local community and offers meals of small cod or scampi with chips for pensioners at £4.99.
The Care Company also worked with fish and chip shops in the Torbay area and in total, 30 people enjoyed a fish supper. The event was also greatly enjoyed by staff at The Care Company and family members.
Sarah said: “Feedback from the event was fantastic. This is something we will definitely repeat in future.
“Events like these are living proof that communities working together can make a huge difference in people’s lives. We are very grateful to The Cod Father for their great contribution and the provision of such fantastic food, and to our wonderful team who gave up their own time voluntarily to help on the day.”
