Fire engines turned out on Sunday night to reports that a tractor was on fire near Ivybridge.

A 999 call was made shortly after 8pm to report the blaze at Cadleigh Cross, between Ivybridge and Lee Mill. One fire engine from Ivybridge and one from Greenbank in Plymouth were sent to the scene.

When they arrived, firefighters found a tractor with a small fire in its gearbox. They extinguished the fire, the cause of which was deemed to be accidental.

The vehicle was left with moderate damage to its gearbox and engine.
