Police have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to a Boxing Day road crash after the 21-year-old driver injured in the accident died.
The man from Plymouth was taken to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition after the crash on the Exeter-bound carriageway of the A38 between Rattery and Buckfastleigh.
Police have revealed he died as a result of his injuries on Tuesday.
They are again asking for witnesses to the collision to eamil them at [email protected]ce. uk or telephoning 101, quoting log 524 26/12/17.
The crash involving a single car happened at about 5.20pm on the A38 eastbound carriageway.
Firefighters from Buckfastleigh and Rattery attended the scene, along with police and paramedics.
Police said: “As a result of the collision the driver of the vehicle, a Red Renault Clio, was taken to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition. No other vehicles were involved. The weather at the time was poor, with heavy rain.
“Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed for around six and a half hours while the collision site was surveyed.”
