A woman has been found dead after a crash on Loddiswell Hill on Thursday.
Police officers received a call at 10.10pm and they arrived at the scene at 10.20pm where they found a woman deceased in the car, which had ended up in a field at the bottom of the hill.
It is thought she was travelling down Loddiswell Hill and went straight across the road at the last corner, rather than turning left to cross New Bridge.
The next of kin have been informed. Police believe there was no other vehicle involved. The road was closed at 10.20pm and reopened ten hours later at 8.20am. Devon Highways assisted the police with a diversion.
Sgt Dave Green said: “We would like to thank all motorists for their patience while the road was closed and a diversion in place. It is important to secure the scene and to recover any evidence as well as recovering the vehicle and the casualty with all dignity and safety.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this time.”
